If you would like to help support the choir and the work it does in the community, please consider donating to Common Thread! We have several donation options: gift cards, Alterna membership, and the Friends of Common Thread program for general and corporate donations. All donors, unless choosing to remain anonymous, are acknowledged to the choir and in the annual May concert program.
Gift Cards
Give a donation to the choir in honour of someone’s birth, anniversary, special occasion, or as a memorial. The cards are available for any amount over $10 and a charitable receipt will be issued to the donor.
Cards can be sent to the donor or to the recipient, provided address(es) are furnished. Please use the “contact us” page to order gift cards.
Alterna membership for Common Thread Community members (singers, volunteers, donors, concert patrons)
Common Thread has always conducted its financial business through a credit union. As a vote of thanks, Alterna Savings, our credit union, has invited us to participate in a pilot program whose details are:
- each Common Thread community member who joins Alterna after January 1, 2012 will receive a one-time $150 transfer bonus;
- $50 of this amount would go directly to the choir and the rest to the account opener (who might decide to donate part or all of this amount to the choir, for a charitable receipt).
- additional benefits to new Alterna members are a discount on Alterna’s five year mortgage rates and a 0.10% bonus on term deposits.
Those of you who are interested in participating in this program are invited to contact the choir administrator via the “contact us” page to receive a letter saying you are part of the C.T. community that you can present to Alterna when you join.
The Friends of Common Thread Program
Individual donors:
Quilter – gifts up to $150
- Appreciation includes advance notice of all choir events; invitation to an open rehearsal
- Funds childcare expenses or hearing assistive devices for a concert; complimentary outreach concert tickets
Spinner - $151 to $500
- Appreciation includes above list + 2 complimentary May concert tickets
- Funds a singer on subsidy for the season; one four-part choral arrangement
Weaver - $501 +
- Appreciation includes above list + 4 complimentary May concert tickets
- Funds skill-building workshops at annual choir retreats
